According to a trailer compilation created by RedLetterMedia this is the number 1 formula for blockbuster trailers these days:

  1. Establishing shot of a city
  2. BWAAAAAM
  3. Mysterious, cryptic, and vague lines
  4. Build up to silence… then BAM!
  5. Throw in a laser shooting into the sky.
  6. Title

All Trailers are the Same!!!

What do you guys think? Is it time for a change when it comes to movie trailers? Is it simply because every action movie is the same these days? Does it mean as well that every trailer music composer must adapt to this formula if she wants to get placements in blockbuster trailers? Or do you think this is just plain wrong and it doesn’t reflect the core of action trailers at all?  Let us know in the comments!
