SoundTrack_Cologne, Germany’s largest and longest-running conference of music in film, TV and video games, will return for its 14th edition in August during Gamescom. The line-up of guests is starting to get very exciting again, as Petri Alanko (Quantum Break, Alan Wake), Bobby Tahouri (Rise of the Tomb Raider, Medal of Honor: Warfighter) and Gareth Coker (Ori and the Blind Forest, Minecraft, ARK Survival Evolved) have all been officially announced.

Here’s what know so far:

SoundTrack_Cologne is divided in three different themed days again: Games (August 24th), Film (August 25th) and TV (August 26th).
In the center of the Theme Day “Music in Games” on August 24th are the composers Petri Alanko, Bobby Tahouri and Gareth Coker. All guests will talk about their body of work, personal experiences, upcoming projects and about the peculiarities of composition for interactive game worlds. About composer Petri Alanko

The compositions of BAFTA nominated composer Petri Alanko range between the haunting orchestral/electronic score for the videogame psycho-thriller Alan Wake’s American Nightmare and the sophisticated classical arrangements for the fantasy film Imaginaerum by Nightwish. The Finn wrote the music for games like Quantum Break, Trials Fusion, MotoHeroz and Gunshine Zombie Edition and was in part also responsible for the sound design.

About composer Bobby Tahouri

The list of Bobby Tahouri’s compositions for games, film and TV is long – he composed the music for the game Transformers – Revenge of the Fallen, the documentaries Best Worst Movie and The American Scream as well as for Nickelodeons animation series Shimmer and Shine. He gained worldwide prominence and recognition for the music of the video game Rise of the Tomb Raider, featuring the gaming icon Lara Croft, in which the adaptive elements are realized and further developed with a new procedural technology called LLC. Furthermore, he composed additional music for the game Medal of Honor: Warfighter, the television series Game of Thrones and the movies Iron Man, Disturbia, Hitman and Despicable Me 2.

About composer Gareth Coker

Gareth Coker combines in his videogames unconventional soundscapes with melodically driven themes. His music for Moon Studios’ platform game Ori and the Blind Forest, that was developed with special attention to the acoustic and graphic design, was awarded with numerous awards like the „Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Award for Outstanding Music Composition“ and the „Game Audio Network Guild’s Audio of the Year“. He also wrote additional music for Minecraft, ARK Survival Evolved, Primal Carnage, The Mean Greens and inMomentum.
