With Oscar nominee Volker Bertelmann (Hauschka) and Manchester by the Sea composer Lesley Barber, SoundTrack_Cologne confirms the first guests for its film music day on Friday, August 25th, 2017.

For the touching score of Lion, Bertelmann, together with Dustin O’Halloran was nominated for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and a Critics’ Choice Award. Bertelmann composed for more than 22 movies, including James Franco’s In Dubious Battle, Glück (“Luck”) by Doris Dörrie, 2012 nominated for the Best Film Score at the “German Film Awards”, and Blotsky, the winner of the “Akira Kurosawa Short Film Award 2017”. His favorite compositional instrument is the piano that he prepares with metal parts, foils and other objects. In addition he is a successful recording artist, having recently released his album “What If”, and is also composing for theatre, dance and art.

Amongst the award-winning movies that Lesley Barber composed the music for, she most recently scored Kenneth Lonergan’s Oscar nominated drama Manchester by the Sea, which received euphoric critical praise. Prior to that she composed the music for Lonergan’s Oscar winner You Can Count On Me, Jerry Rothwells award winning documentary How To Change The World and Mira Nairs “Golden Globe”-winner Hysterical Blindness.
