Multi-award winning musician, film composer Antonio Sanchez (BIRDMAN) scores his first TV project, EPIX’s original cable series “Get Shorty” produced by MGM Television; watch the first episode for free on epic.com. The show is created by Davey Holmes (Shameless) and he is also executive producing the MGM Television production with Adam Arkin (“The Americans,” “Billions”) and Allen Coulter (The Sopranos, Remember Me) who also directed the first episode. The 10-episode, one hour dark comedy was inspired by Elmore Leonard’s 1990 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name and stars BAFTA Award nominee Chris O’Dowd (“Girls,” “Bridesmaids”) and multi-Emmy® winner Ray Romano (“Vinyl,” “Parenthood,” “Everybody Loves Raymond”). Sanchez received both critical-acclaim and media attention with his score for Alejandro Inarritu’s BIRDMAN. His score was deemed Oscar ineligible yet received a Golden Globe nomination and then won both a Grammy and Critics’ Choice award.
“Get Shorty” follows a hitman from Nevada who tries to become a movie producer in Hollywood as a means to leave his criminal past behind. For the score, Sanchez combines his signature drumming along with his classical training to create a percussive score with orchestral influences when applicable. As a drummer, Sanchez recently was on a European tour with the Pat Methany Band as well as performed “BIRDMAN Live” to picture in concert halls worldwide. He also performed at the 6th Annual International Jazz Day in Havana Cuba along with Jazz icons including Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, Chucho Valdes, and Gonzalo Bona.
“Get Shorty” will premiere this year on Epix.
